Product Description

Popolini Organic Cotton Washable Reusable Sanitary Towels

Our summary: these are the softest and most absorbent of all the types we've tried and they don't contain any inner core of polyurethane plastic. They are however quite not as slimline as others so may not be suitable day time wear for some. But perfect for night-time.

These highly absorbent soft menstrual pads are suitable for women and girls who prefer to use reusable cloth pads or have sensitivities to disposable sanitary products.

Made with 100% unbleached organic cotton terry knit with wings that fasten with snaps - no waterproofing or PUL, just soft absorbent cotton.

Each pack contains 5 pads (outer pad + 2 inserts) and comes in its own mesh bag for easy washing. You can choose the right amount of inserts for the absorbency required, pop it into the outer pad, then use as normal.

Latex free.

Wash up to 60 degrees and suitable for tumble drying.

Too high a washing temperature. Pads come apart quite easily

Trial & error

I bought these as someone said they had heavy periods. Obviously not like mine used to be (I would have had to change them every 2 hours at least)! I flooded through on my first 2 cycles, one instance the flood gates opened when I stood up, this would have been prevented if they had a waterproof base material. So lots of accidents, thankfully at home.

I have another brand, medium flow which are only suited to my light days (thin like disposables) . Hence this purchase. I found them to be too long (most are), and quite bulky (like the pads mum first bought me back in the day).
Yes they are comfortable (apart from the bulk), absorbent and good for those of us that have sensitivities to disposables. You can add or remove a layer. Third time using, I went through the whole set in 2 days. If I wasn't at home, I think I would be putting a disposable panty liner under there for safety.
I've used the menstrual cup (latex free) before and much prefer that, but unable to use it currently.

Pros: soft, comfortable, absorbent, reusable, adjustable thickness, Stay in place, wash well
Cons: bulky, no waterproof backing, might be a bit sweaty in summer.

To clean, I rinse them well and pop them into my Minky caddy, which has an Oxi powder and cold water in it, until they are ready to wash.

Sigh of relief!

Been wanting and needing to change to cloth for quite some time now, I picked these for their simplicity and that’s exactly what I got. I can change the absorbency as my cycle goes and even use the inserts solo as a liner. Only con (but this could be my own fault) is that they changed colour and shrunk/misshaped slightly after their first wash. Still 100% fully functional and the perfect beginner pad I think. Not for those who like paper thin pads but for those who want comfort and security!

Easy site to use. Very fast delivery. Personal message in package. Great to support a small local business. Products are great quality. Comfortable. Wasy well and I have 5 daughters who are willing to try them out and convert to the eco pads. With three women in the house buying sanitarty products monthly it adds up. These offer a cheaper, efficient and more eco friendly option.

Many thanks. I will certainly be spreading the word.

A bit uncomfortable
Rating:
14 September 2020  |

I found these a bit uncomfortable when i wore one during the day. They are very thick so i used only one insert, and as a pantyliner without an insert and I found they rubbed regardless. However at night they were fine, and absorption was great.

These are my first csp, they are absolutely great. Was expecting an icky mess and odour. But nope! Felt so clean and my period felt lighter than normal. Comes with a lovely, durable looking wash bag. Now I just need a little wet bag for work.

Popolini Reusable Sanitary Towels Organic Cotton 5 pack
Rating:
10 July 2019  |

Honestly I found the size of these pads to be off putting (big) and returned them. I did not use them so cannot comment if they are effective at absorbing liquids. I never wore sanitary pads so I'm not used to the sensation of them. However, I use the menstrual cup and find this an amazing product.

Absolutely love these reusable pads. have just ordered another set so don’t have to wash mid cycle I am in my mid 40’s, have very heavy periods & am yet to have a leak day or night, which was a common occurrence with disposables.
